X-rays are often ordered to give the doctor an objective assessment of primarily bone integrity as well as structural integrity of the spine or other regions. Particular biomechanical structure and integrity can be measured with x-ray evaluation.
MRI may be ordered when more information such as specific soft tissue injury is necessary to assess. The MRI is usually ordered after a reasonable period of treatment is provided unless a clear and significant condition is observed with specific signs of injury.
Other imaging studies may include CT Scan, Bone Densitometry, Bone Scan, Magnetic Resonance Angiography.
